Active Violence Immediate Response Training (AVIRT)

Be prepared to act immediately in the face of violence. Our AVIRT-certified training empowers schools, businesses, churches, and communities to respond with confidence and save lives.

AVIRT stands for Active Violence Immediate Response Training, a comprehensive program developed by HSI that merges active shooter response with emergency bleeding control techniques. The training teaches individuals and organizations how to recognize warning signs, react quickly in an active violence situation, and implement life-saving measures to control severe bleeding. The goal of AVIRT is to empower people to make rapid survival decisions and act decisively to save lives during a crisis.

Key Components of AVIRT Training
  • Situational Awareness:  Learn to recognize warning signs and potential threats to prevent an incident before it escalates.
  • Emergency Response:  Develop skills to make decisions such as to “Escape, Evade, or Attack” and implement appropriate response tactics.
  • Bleeding Control:   Acquire life-saving techniques to manage and stop severe bleeding in a victim, which can be a leading cause of preventable death.
  • Preparedness:  Create an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) to enhance overall readiness for potential violent events.
